• Fleas are external parasites and can be found on the skin of their hosts. Adult fleas are approximately 2.5 mm in length, their bodies are skinny and color is reddish brown. Fleas have microscopic hairs and their compression allows them to freely move in animal fur. Fleas have the capability of jumping but they don’t have wings to fly.

There are major two types of fleas, cat flea and dog flea that are commonly found in North America. Fleas mostly fed on hairy animals such as dogs, cats, rabbits, squirrels, rats, mice and some other wild animals. Humans have never been a target to fleas. Fleas don’t give eggs on their prey, they hatch eggs on the ground in rugs, carpet, bedding or cracks in the floor that mostly hatch within two days time.
